What are your hours of operation?

The Ocean Course at Hokuala is typically open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Our practice facilities follow seasonal hours, opening 30 minutes before the first tee time.

How can I book a tee time? 

You can book tee times 24/7 through our online booking engine. Booking online is the most convenient way to secure your preferred time and view our most current seasonal rates.

How far in advance can I book a tee time?

General public tee times can typically be booked up to 3 months in advance. Guests staying at Timbers Kauai – Ocean Club & Residences may have extended booking privileges as part of their stay experience. Call for kama’aina rates.

Do you offer golf lessons or clinics?

Yes, we offer professional instruction led by PGA staff. From private “Ocean View” lessons to group clinics and junior programs, we cater to all skill levels looking to improve their game in a tropical paradise.

Are carts available, and is there a cart fee?

Our fleet of modern power carts is equipped with GPS and is typically included in your green fee.  Rider fee is $35

Do you provide rental clubs or other equipment?

We offer premium Callaway rental sets for men, women, and juniors. To ensure the best fit and availability, we recommend reserving your rental clubs at the time of booking.

Is there a dress code? 

Yes, proper golf attire is required: collared shirts and golf shorts or slacks. Denim, swimwear, and athletic jerseys are not permitted on the course or practice facilities. We are a soft-spike-only facility. Rental shoes are not offered. 

Do you have practice facilities (driving range, putting green)?

Yes, we feature a comprehensive practice facility, including a driving range with target greens, a large putting green, and a short-game area.

Are children allowed on the course?

Yes, we are a family-friendly resort destination. Junior ages 6 years to 15 years old, play free with a paying adult after 11am.  If a parent has 2 juniors, 6 years to 15 years old, one play free and the other half of adult rate, must have a driver for 2nd junior, only 2 on cart.  

Do you have water stations on the course?

Chilled water station is located on the side building of our snack shop (Hale Kiele). 

What types of tournaments or events are hosted at Hokuala?

We host a variety of golf tournaments and events that are tailored to the goals and objectives of the event.  From shotguns to consecutive tee times, our outings are customized to fit the unique needs of each group, with additional options for personalized contests, scoring, logo apparel, and pre-purchased merchandise bags.  Additionally, we offer unique private events for buyouts of the driving range or on-course locations for private events and weddings as well as a weekly Skins and Stroke Play tournament open at all.

Are there twilight or weekday specials at Hokuala?

Yes, we offer a weekly twilight scramble on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s.  It includes rental clubs along with an hour lesson hosted by our golf professional and tee time commences promptly at 2pm, with check in at 12:45pm.  Please contact the golf shop to reserve your spot at 808.241.6000.

Does Hokuala have on-site dining or a bar?

Hualani’s Restaurant is our premier dining destination, offering a “Farm-to-Table” menu featuring ingredients sourced directly from the Farm at Hokuala. It’s the perfect spot for a post-round meal with ocean views. We also offer Hale Kiele which has smaller items, local bites, and beverages. 

Is there a pro shop at Hokuala? What do they offer?

Our award-winning Pro Shop features high-end resort apparel, the latest Callaway Golf Clubs, Putters, and unique Kauai-branded souvenirs. We carry top brands like Peter Millar, TravisMathew, and Amble. 

Are there any unique features of The Ocean Course at Hokuala?

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, our course features the longest stretch of continuous oceanfront holes in all of Hawaii. The signature half-mile stretch along the Pacific cliffs offers some of the most photographed views in golf.

Do you issue rain checks or refunds for cancellations?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. In the event of heavy tropical rain that makes the course unplayable, we issue prorated rain checks based on the number of holes completed.  Inclement weather or rain does not constitute a rain-out. Rainouts must be unplayable or unsafe weather and/or course closing determined at the sole discretion of the General Manager and/or Superintendent. In the event the golf course is deemed unplayable due to a rain-out, we issue prorated rain checks based on the number of holes completed.  No rain checks are issued unless the golf course is closed and deemed unplayable.

Can I book online or only by phone?

While you can call our Golf Shop, we recommend booking online at golfhokuala.com/book-a-tee-time or through our Mobile App to lock in the best available rates and view current course conditions.

How busy is the course on weekends?

Weekends and mid-mornings are our most popular times. We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance during peak travel seasons (winter and summer) to ensure your desired tee time.

Do you allow riders that are not playing golf?

Non-playing riders are permitted for an additional fee, subject to cart availability. It’s a great way for non-golfers to experience the stunning coastal scenery of Kauai.

Do you allow food and beverages to be carried on?

Personal coolers and outside alcohol are prohibited. We offer a unique selection of locally sourced refreshments through our Snack Shop located in-between 1st, 10th hole.

What is the difficulty of the course?

The Ocean Course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature layout, meaning it offers a strategic challenge for low-handicap players while providing multiple tee boxes to ensure an enjoyable experience for casual golfers. 

Do your golf cars have GPS?

Yes, our carts are equipped with state-of-the-art GPS systems that provide accurate yardage to the pins and highlight key hazards and landmarks along the coast.

Do you pair groups of less than 4?

To ensure a consistent pace of play and allow as many guests as possible to enjoy the ocean views, we pair singles and twosomes together during peak play hours.
